Generous Cities

Generous Cities are localized community expressions for high-capacity leaders to experience philanthropy differently – with more joy, more wisdom, and doing so in community.

Overview of Generous.Cities

We serve leaders in these markets through relevant and inspiring events, creating a safe space to grow in their generosity. Generosity NY was the first market designed to unite 1,000+ leaders, and have since expanded to Nashville, Birmingham, San Antonio and new markets. We launch Generous Cities in collaboration with best in class partners, and contextualize the expressions to address local problems, local solutions and local leaders. Generous Cities have 4 components for successful collaboration – local ownership, local leadership, local partnership and national support.

Our Generous Cities Model

Foster a movement of radical global generosity.

GOAL

Our goal is to awaken and unite 1,000 LOCAL generous leaders IN community, and teach the next generation to give with purpose.

topical events

Deliver bi-monthly events on local topics that matter. Generous.Life events feature thought leadership, networking, and challenging discussion. All events are inspirational, educational and safe (no ask).

founders

Each City is led by 20 founding families that recognize the power of generosity in community. The founders enjoy intimate gatherings, special access events and multiplied impact.

Current Generous Cities

In every city we spend a year learning the needs of the community, understanding the culture, and what/how we can help provide value to what is working, to better propel more joy and generosity for high-capacity leaders.

OWNERSHIP

FOUNDERS CIRCLES
The Founders Circle is made up of 10-12 high capacity leaders investing into, forming and fostering the local generosity community. Each member
donates capital into that market; picks the topics (of passion, curiosity, or impact) for the events to be curated from; and invites their friends to the events. The Founders meet regularly, in-person or on zoom to discuss the trends, issues, and events to gather local leaders.

LEADERSHIP

LOCAL CHAMPION
The
Local Champion is a local respected leader that rolls up his/her sleeves to turn inspiration into convening. S/He leads the Founders Circle and identifies the topical event schedule. The Champion works with the Generous.Life team to source the best speakers, and to keep in lock-step with the generosity movement, uncovering possibilities. The Champion attends and may lead the local in-person events, as well as intimate dinners. S/He gets to facilitate the resulting small groups that want to affect change within that topic.

PARTNERSHIP

LOCAL PARTNER
The Local Partner aka
City Sponsor is a local organization that is serving high capacity leaders day to day. The local organization cares for the members, and provides them with value. The partner has a seat on the Founders Circle; helps set the tone and direction of the community; as well as identifies and invites couples and families to ignite through community. Each market has a City Sponsor, and may have several.

SUPPORT

GENEROUS.LIFE TEAM
The national
Generous.Life Team designs and plans the gatherings. We find, recruit, and coach the event speakers. We lead a network of regional directors that contextualize the messaging and content for local impact. Our team captures and produces the content to distribute locally and nationally. We provide the technology to house and activate small group formation, collaborative giving, and mentorship. Additionally, Generous.Life has built the technology to make member communications and event registrations seamless.
